Summer is here and that means it is officially the season of clam bakes here in New England!
My favorite summer memories include getting together with huge groups of friends and family, playing lawn games, and making fun of the newbies that fail epically at cracking open their first ever lobster.
But, like everything else these days, coronavirus has changed the way most summer parties have looked. Mark and I decided to take it upon ourselves to do a clam bake for just the two of us!
Dress Code
Cape-Cod-Chic
Menu
Beverages
- Narragansett Fresh Catch Blonde Ale
- Tom Collins
- Cape Codder
- Tequila Sunrise
Appetizers
- Clam chowder in homemade bread bowls
- Crabbies
- I actually grew up eating these at Christmas, but I’ll never turn them down because I love them! It is a combination of crab meat, butter, cheese spread, mayonnaise, and garlic powder spread on an English muffin then put under the broiler for a few minutes. Pure cheesy, crabby deliciousness!
- Mussels with garlic, lemon, and white wine
Main Course
- Boiled lobster with tubs of butter
- Greek style roasted potatoes (a repeat from our Greek date night at home)
- Corn on the cob
Dessert
- S’mores by the fire
Activities
- Beach Pail Toss
- Mark, once again, made this game up all on his own! He screwed some Dollar Store pails into a slab of wood that we stick into the ground and toss washers into them. The top, small pail is worth 3 points, middle is 2, and the large, bottom pail is worth 1 point. You could also use nerf balls to make it a little safer around little ones.
- Movie under the stars
