Borders are opening up and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably itching to get the heck out of wherever you’ve been stuck for the past few months.
Most people will be opting for road trips over flying for at least the next few months, but if you’re considering jumping back into the air travel game then there are a lot of things you should be considering before buying that super cheap plane ticket you just find.
Below I’ve outlined the top 8 questions to ask before flying after the COVID-19 pandemic:
- Do I actually feel comfortable traveling right now or am I doing it because I feel pressured to do it by social media/society/someone in my life?
- Am I allowed into that country or state right now?
- Will I need to quarantine myself when I get there? If I do need to, can I afford to spend more than two weeks there?
- Do I need to take a COVID-19 test before I get on the plane? If yes, how far in advance do I need to take it?
- Will I need to wear a mask while I am there?
- Will I need to practice social distancing while I am there?
- What do I want to do while I am there and will those things actually be open?
- What is the airline’s current flight change or cancellation policy if things suddenly turn south and I need to get back home ASAP?
The decision on when to get back to “normal” travel is a deeply personal one. If you feel suffocated and you just need to get away, I totally get that. Still don’t feel safe out in the world? I get that too.
This choice is your own. Don’t let anyone make this decision for you.
