Mark got stuck with planning date night two weeks in a row because I already had a pretty massive date night planned for our anniversary and it didn’t quite align with our pattern.
For his date night at home theme he went with Derby Day.
If you’re a Barstool Sports fan, you may have seen Big Cat’s latest instance of losing his mind in quarantine with his daily “horse races” that have since officially been labeled “Cat Cave Derby”.
Every day he goes live on Twitter and plays this electric horse racing game he found. Thousands of people tune in every day to cheer on their favorite horse: Carmella’s Dream, Frederico, Kenny, or Spiral Ham. Mark and I have also lost our minds and tune in daily. I’m on the winning team, Carmella’s Dream, while Mark is a foolish Spiral Ham fan.
Because the Cat Cave Derby has become such a staple in our daily quarantine life, it really only made sense for us to have a derby themed date night at home at some point.
What didn’t make sense…was why Mark had to take a day off work to create his very own derby themed board game…but more on that later…

He took a Monday off work and spent the entire day drawing the board game, coloring it in, and coming up with the rules to the game. I would share more details but he says I’m not allowed to put details of his genius idea on the internet…
This game is sort of similar to what he created, but it’s also pretty expensive for a game in my opinion. You can also find the same type of electronic game that Big Cat uses here.
