Depending on who you’re traveling with, not everyone you’re traveling with is going to want to spend hours on end at Magnolia Market. But, believe it or not, there are plenty of other things to do in Waco that aren’t Magnolia Market!
If you have more than a day in town, I would highly recommend checking out some of the places mentioned below. The places with asterisks are places I personally visited and can absolutely vouch for!
This post was originally published February 2021. It was most recently updated May 2022.
- Visit the Dr. Pepper Museum. (Yes, Dr. Pepper was first created in Waco!)
- Catch a glimpse of prehistoric times at the Waco Mammoth National Monument.
- See some of your favorite animals at the Cameron Park Zoo.
- Explore Downtown Waco and all the incredible boutiques it has to offer.*
- Have some truly unbelievable Cajun food at Cajun Craft.*
- Catch a show at the Waco Hippodrome Theater. (Currently closed due to COVID.)
- Take a free ride on the Silo District Trolley and learn about other parts of Waco
- Walk around Baylor University’s campus and see the two bears that call the campus home. (Baylor University is also home to a number of museums and points of interest, like the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and the Mayborn Museum.)*
- Have some local brewskis at the Waco Ale Company (and get some of their loaded cheese curds; they’re incredible!)*
- Or if wine is more your speed, visit the Waco Winery. (The tasting room even has a rooftop patio!) According to Google Waco Winery is temporarily closed.
- Go on a tour with Waco Tours. If you visit Magnolia Market, you’ll probably see the Waco Tours stands along the perimeter offering to take you to some of Chip and Jo’s flipped homes. But they’ll also give you some insights on other places to go in town! They also offer river cruise tours in the summer.
- Visit the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum.
- Stroll through the Waco Downtown Farmers Market on Saturday morning.
- Take a scenic walk down the Cotton Belt Trail.
If this will be your first trip to Waco and Magnolia Market, check out this post for all the things I wish I knew before visiting the Silos in Waco.
