It’s been awhile since I’ve done a #FoodieFriday post, so this week I’m posting about the life-changing milkshake I had while on a work trip in Las Vegas. I feel like Instagram is filled with all of these drool-worthy milkshakes that look absolutely insane…but I never know where to find them!
A whole slice of cake on top of a creamy milkshake? Yes please.

Luckily I was able to find this piece of heaven at Black Tap in Las Vegas.
Like most things in Vegas, these pieces of art do not come cheap. The “crazy shakes”themselves are $15 a pop, plus an extra $8 if you want some alcohol added in. (And you’re in Vegas, so who doesn’t want that?)
Choosing between their eight Crazy Shake options was a struggle, but I ended up going with the Cookie Shake with a shot of vanilla vodka.
Oh…My…God…
This exceeded my wildest expectations. The shake itself is a vanilla milkshake blended with cookies, and then topped with an absurd amount of whipped cream, a vanilla frosting room, a whole chocolate chip cookie, crumbled cookies, chocolate chips…and if that’s not enough, there is even a full-sized chocolate chip cookie ice-cream sandwich on top!!! As a lactose-intolerant ice-cream lover, this concoction was a nightmare for my body…but seriously worth every bite. Somehow I managed to drink about 80% of it and while my stomach wasn’t my biggest fan, I quickly became Black Tap’s biggest fan. They also have a location in New York City so I think I need to start making that a regular stop on my semi-frequent NYC trips…
Black Tap’s Truffle Burger also deserves an honorable mention here (yes, I had this monstrosity of a milkshake and a burger. Sue me.)
I actually learned about this burger from a member of the GLT Foodie community, who had advised that it was probably the best burger she has ever had in her life. I’m not sure I would go that far, but it was definitely up there.
I feel like I have been hearing about “wagyu beef” a lot over the past couple years, and I’m a huge truffle addict, so when you put both of these in the description of a burger I’m obligated to try it. This bad boy was also topped with gouda cheese, my favorite type, so talk about a match made in heaven.
Between the weirdly smooth and kind of creamy texture of the beef, the creaminess of the gouda, and robust flavor of the truffle mayo and vinaigrette, this burger is extremely rich. If you have time in Vegas, I would recommend making two stops to Black Tap: one trip for the milkshake and a separate trip for the Truffle Burger. The combination was just a bit much for me (probably mostly due to the absurd amount of dairy I had in one sitting…) but both are seriously worth a visit.
Tell me about your favorite place to grab a burger or a milkshake! (Bonus points if you can get both in one place!)
